Job Description

Ascendo Resources is partnering with a legacy Italian luxury fashion house in their search for a Senior Accountant! This is a hybrid opportunity based in Secaucus, NJ, with an annual salary of $85,000-$110,000 plus bonus.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting and tax experience
• Knowledge of IFRS, fixed assets, accrual accounting, and provisions
• Prior experience in retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or cost accounting is required
• Proficiency with SAP strongly preferred
• Experience in multinational companies with cross-border operations strongly preferred

Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly closing entries, including prepaid expenses, deferred income, accruals, and provisions (e.g., bad debt, obsolete inventory)
• Reconcile suspense and other general ledger accounts
• Manage fixed assets: additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Oversee lease accounting per IFRS 16, ensuring accurate lease liability and ROU asset recognition
• Record and reconcile payroll journal entries, including accruals
• Support revenue recognition and credit card/cash reconciliations for retail stores
• Assist in financial statement preparation and audit support
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal controls
• Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and third-party providers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, HR, Legal)
• Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems

Tax Compliance

• Manage U.S. and Canada sales tax compliance and filings
• Oversee property tax filings and payments (FL, NY, NJ)
• Handle business license renewals across U.S. and Canada retail locations
• Prepare and file corporate annual reports and returns
• Ensure compliance with city, county, and other local tax requirements
