An Exciting Opportunity for a Passionate Financial Leader at Healthy Pet!

Are you a talented and driven finance professional looking for a bright and stable future in an exciting and innovative manufacturing company? Healthy Pet is a place where passionate, high-performing individuals thrive-and where job longevity is valued. We are seeking an exceptional Plant Controller to lead financial operations at our manufacturing facility. If you have high expectations for yourself, love working with numbers, and want to make a lasting impact in a company that shares your passion for pets, we'd love to hear from you!

At Healthy Pet, we're not just manufacturing pet products; we're setting industry standards with sustainably sourced, natural plant fiber products. As a private company with a far-reaching global presence, we're poised for continued growth and innovation. Your role here will support our commitment to a long-term, global perspective in pet care.

The Plant Controller serves as the financial leader of the production facility, providing expert guidance on cost accounting, financial controls, resource allocation, variance analysis, monthly closings, and plant-specific profit and loss (P&L) management. This role acts as a strategic business partner to plant leadership, ensuring financial transparency and supporting data-driven decision-making.

As a subject matter expert, the Plant Controller proactively identifies financial risks and opportunities, anticipates the facility's financial needs, and provides insightful analysis to drive operational efficiency. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to influence policy improvements, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This is a role for a team-oriented individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and works effectively across departments to achieve shared goals.

The Plant Controller is a trustworthy and engaged leader, working in close partnership with the General Manager, and fostering financial literacy and collaboration across all levels of the organization. The Plant Controller is also responsible for overseeing fixed asset schedules, optimizing financial and operational processes, and enhancing business intelligence reporting. Additionally, this role plays a key part in improving systems related to maintenance, repair, and overall plant performance.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support plant management with financial tools, job cost information, profitability analysis, and hours supporting jobs and capital projects
  • Analyze and report on production variances, conducting monthly Budget-to-Actual reviews with each operational department and providing Operations management with insights and recommendations to improve cost control and efficiency

  • Oversee journal entries, purchase requisitions, and invoice receipt/goods receipt analysis to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper financial documentation
  • Oversee the Inventory Control position, ensuring accurate inventory management and adherence to internal controls
  • Lead the preparation and submission of the facility's annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with financial objectives and strategic business goals while providing financial insights to support planning and resource allocation
  • Deliver a facility Profit & Loss (P&L) statement monthly, ensuring financial transparency and accountability
  • Monitor and support the facility's purchasing process, ensuring compliance with financial policies, cost controls, and budgetary guidelines
  • Establish and enforce internal financial controls to safeguard plant assets, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, and supporting audit readiness
  • Support the Engineering team in evaluating capital project ROI by performing and validating financial calculations to ensure accurate investment analysis and decision-making. Audit cost-effectiveness of Capital projects to ensure ROI targets are met.
  • Support ROI calculations for continuous improvement projects, innovation initiatives, and other financial analyses, including product mix optimization and production cadence improvements, to drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency
  • Support the R&D team by performing pro forma cost analyses to ensure accurate standard costs and appropriate standard pricing.
