Job Description

Pet Wants provides fresh, small-batch, high-nutrition pet food through a nationwide network of passionate franchise owners. Since 2010, we've made it our mission to help pets live longer, healthier lives!

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Marketing Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies focused on social media management, content creation, campaign development, and franchisee marketing. The ideal candidate is passionate about pets, has a strong background in social media and content, and enjoys guiding franchisees to maximize their marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Develop and execute social media strategies to enhance brand visibility and engagement across social media channels.
  • Create compelling content, including visuals, videos, reels, and written posts, aligned with brand guidelines.
  • Onboard new franchisees to social media (Facebook, Instagram, Google My Business), and create and maintain franchisee credentials.
  • Schedule and distribute social media content to franchisee social media pages.

Content Creation

  • Develop high-quality content for social media, emails, email newsletters, advertising, marketing guides, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure all content aligns with the brand voice and resonates with the target audience.
  • Create and maintain an annual content calendar to provide a consistent flow of engaging materials for franchisees.

Campaign Development

  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns to promote new products, services, and promotions.
  • Collaborate with franchisees to tailor campaigns for local markets while ensuring brand consistency.
  • Manage national campaigns and events such as the Pack Gives Back philanthropy project and the annual conference.

Franchisee Marketing

  • Provide guidance and support to franchisees on effective local marketing strategies.
  • Create and deliver training sessions and support tools on best practices.
  • Analyze franchisee marketing performance and offer personalized coaching to improve results.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing/advertising/public relations or related discipline

Experience

  • 2-3+ years of experience in social media management, content creation, and campaign development. Franchise marketing experience (preferred).

Skills

  • Experience in creating content within Canva
  • Experience implementing and coordinating digital and social campaigns, familiarity with Spout Social or similar social media management tools
  • Experience with Google My Business
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate within a team

Additional Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Experience managing and optimizing paid ads with Meta Ads Manager and/or Google Ads
  • Experience with video editing and motion graphics programs, such as CapCut , Adobe Premiere , and Adobe After Effects
  • Experience designing and managing pages in SharePoint , including content updates and basic page layouts.
  • Familiarity with website builders similar to WIX or WordPress.com for making routine updates to corporate and franchise websites—no coding required.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Professional certifications such as Google Ads Search Certification, Google Ads Measurement Certification, or Facebook Meta Certification
  • Familiarity with email marketing automation tools such as Klaviyo

Working Environment

This is an in-office position located in Cincinnati, OH (45242) with the ability to work at home 1 day a week (leader’s discretion). Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional work outside normal hours. Travel requirement is less than 10%.
